You could describe tenor saxophonist Barbara Thompson as the Colosseum's secret weapon. For though, Barbara, married to Colosseum's leader Jon Hiseman, never appears with her husband's group in public - instead, she leads her own jazz quintet - she does play on several of their records including their latest album, Valentyne Suite, tipped in this column a few weeks ago and now in the best-selling charts.
